New Bedford Community Rowing
New Bedford is partnering with Community Rowing Inc. of Boston to help bring the sport of rowing to the Acushnet River, benefiting the lives of the city’s school children and residents and reconnecting New Bedford to an important part of its history. Launch ramps have been built and groundbreaking for the boathouse, which will be based on designs by MIT students, is expected in 2011.

Whaling City Rowing
This local rowing club is a non-profit organization dedicated to making open water rowing accessible to people of all ages and income levels. Club members row 28-foot long fiberglass whaleboats - replicas of nineteenth century whale boats. After school programs and summer day camps provide instruction to the region’s young people throughout the year.
